Orion Heating is a family business established in 1977 to supply woodburning stoves to energy concious home-owners in East Anglia. The desire to live sustainably and reduce waste in the 1970s was portrayed in TV programs such as the Good Life. Those customers were keen to purchase the new European wood and multi-fuel stoves that, at the time, were not being manufactured in the UK.

      Originally based in Ugley, Orion Heating was re-established during 2000 in Elsenham. The current second generation owners, John and Wendy Morgan, have expanded and updated the business over the last 9 years. An ever increasing demand for ecologically sound and energy efficient homes has helped the business grow to the point where new and larger premises were needed. Having out-grown the available showroom space at Elsenham, Orion Heating are pleased to invite customers to their delightful high street shop in nearby Stansted Mountfitchet. The Grade II listed shop in Stansted will have on display an even larger range of traditional and modern stoves, including a new range of fireplace surrounds and accessories. Wood fired cookers can also be seen in the new shop,  bringing the option of carbon neutral cooking to customers. Britain is now at the cutting edge of stove design, with many of the most popular models coming from the Exeter based manufacturer and importer Stovax, now the UK's largest stove distributor. When shopping for wood fired cookers, ESSE is now the brand to look out for. Their high tech fireboxes and top quality cast iron construction beat most other brands on both desirablility and cost.      Orion Heating's new high street shop will highlight the benefits of wood burning to many more people. Heating with wood offers customers independence from expensive fossil fuels. The aesthetic and comfort of a glowing stove are arguably just as important as the high efficiency and carbon neutral heating that it provides.
